18 Apple iPhones that will change starting today

D-Day is here. The latest version of Apple’s operating system for iPhones, iOS16, starts rolling out later today (September 12). Roll out of the iOS16 update is scheduled to start at 10 pm IST.

Apple announced the same at its ‘Far Out’ event on September 7 where it launched the iPhone 14 series, new models of Apple Watch and AiPods Pro second-generation. The all-new iOS 16 brings in a host of new features to iPhones. The biggest features of iOS16 include the ability to personalise Lock Screen, edit or unsend an iMessage, use the full-screen music player, get fitness rings without an Apple Watch, improvements to Photos and more. ​iPhone 8

Apple launched iPhone 8 in 2017. This is the most-affordable earliest-generation iPhone to receive the iOS16 update. Powered by A11 Bionic chipset the smartphone packs a 4.7-inch Retina HD display.

​iPhone 8 Plus

iPhone 8 Plus is the bigger-screen variant of iPhone 8. It sports a 5.5-inch Retina HD display, slightly bigger battery and better camera.

Apple launched iPhone X along with iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. It is the company’s special edition phone, launched at its tenth anniversary.

​iPhone Xs

Launched in 2018, iPhone Xs comes with a 5.8-inch OLED display and is powered by A12 Bionic chipset. iPhone Xs series are the first phones to support e-SIM.

iPhone Xs Max is the bigger-screen option of iPhone Xs. It sports a 6.5-inch screen with IP68 rating which makes it dust and water-resistant. The smartphone features a dual rear camera with 12MP wide angle and 12MP telephoto camera.

iPhone XR is the most-affordable iPhone of 2018. It is the first premium affordable iPhone that Apple launched. It sports a 6.1-inch LCD display and is powered by Apple A12 Bionic chipset. It is the highest-selling phone of the year 2019.

Apple iPhone 11 is the most-affordable smartphone of the year 2019. The handset with a 6.1-inch display is the last iPhone to launch with an LCD screen. It is the top-selling smartphone of 2020.

Launched earlier this year, iPhone SE 2022 is the newest and the most-affordable iPhone to run on iOS 16. It is powered by A15 Bionic chipset, the same that powers Apple’s premium iPhone 13 series and two non-Pro models of iPhone 14.
